Polarizing Microscope is the important instrument for study the optical properties of crystal plate.It is necessary to make optical plate to be identified under a reflective polarizing microscope, which is also called ore microscope, mainly applied for research and study the metallic minerals.

Polarizing Microscope is the important instrument for study the optical properties of crystal plate. In visible light, minerals can be divided into three categories: transparent, translucent and opaque, non – metallic minerals are mostly transparent minerals. In work of identification and study of transparent minerals, the most widely used method is crystal optics, or called Polarizing Microscope research method. Grind the sample into 0.03mm thick plate, under the Polarizing Microscope, to observe the various optical properties of minerals, so as to identify the minerals, study the structure of the sample and mineral processing characteristics. For opaque minerals, It is not appropriate to make thin plate under transmission light for identification .It is necessary to make optical plate to be identified under a reflective polarizing microscope, which is also called ore microscope, mainly applied for research and study the metallic minerals.

Under the Polarizing Microscope, we could see the minute structure of the ore, also we could see the minerals look like another color world.

Laboratory Procedure for ore cutting plates:

Raw ore→Cut into cubes→One side grinding and polishing (washing)→fixing by adhesions→cut for plates(0.5mm)→making thin plate (0.03mm)→add cover-glass→Polarizing Microscope observation
